About Us | Halo Dish Covers
Made in South Africa
Halo Dish Covers, is a Cape Town-based company founded by the team behind Spaza Store. They are dedicated to producing practical dish covers that help reduce single-use plastic waste and create valuable employment opportunities in South Africa. Their growth philosophy centers around expanding opportunities for young South Africans, fostering communities of like-minded individuals, and promoting sustainable business practices.
In a country grappling with a 32.9% unemployment rate—of which 59.6% are youths under 25—Halo is committed to uplifting local manufacturers and cooperatives. They provide training and equipment to ensure high-quality production and plan to expand these efforts to create even more jobs as the company grows.
In addition to their environmental and social missions, Halo fosters opportunities for emerging artists. They invite young designers to submit concept proposals, providing guidance and support throughout the design process. This initiative allows aspiring designers to gain industry experience and see their work come to life.
Committed to environmental kindness
We are firm believers of environmental kindness and this thread runs through everything we create. All our products are packaged in an eco-friendly warehouse, where we make every effort to ensure that we reduce plastic wherever possible.
Opportunities for artists
To generate fresh ideas and discover new talent, the Halo team publicly invites young designers to submit a one-page concept proposal on a theme of their choice. If selected, the designer adapts the design to fit the various sizes and shapes of Halo dish covers. Throughout the process, the Halo team offers support and guidance, affording aspiring young designers the chance to gain valuable experience in the industry and the chance to see the impact their art can have on the world.
We are thrilled to announce that we have achieved official Fair Trade verification!
